Vicks VapoRub has been around for over 100 years and is one of the most widely used over-the-counter decongestants.
But over the past few years, others have found an array of other surprising uses for the cream that have absolutely nothing to do with cold and flu relief.
EAR PAIN RELIEF
Apply some Vicks VapoRub on a cotton ball and then put it in the painful ear. You will notice relief immediately.
You can also warm garlic clove in the microwave for 10 seconds and then apply some Vicks vapo rub on one of the ends of the clove and place it in your ear.
According to the Vicks website it can be “˜massaged’ in to soothe headaches and body aches, with many choosing to softly rub the cream into their temples as the mentholated scent can release pressure in the head and relieve pain. (source)
GET RID OF NAIL FUNGUS
Rub VapoRub on your toenails. Within days, the nail will turn dark””this means the Vicks is killing the fungus. As your toenail grows out, the dark part will grow off and you will have fungus-free feet. Keep applying the ointment over a period of two weeks to fully cleanse nail beds of any remaining bacteria. TICKS AND BUGS BITES
If you get bitten by a tick, apply Vicks immediately. The strong odor might help get the critter to release itself and stop bugging you.
Apply Vicks to the heels and balls of your feet, then massage it into the damaged areas. Do this in the evening, then sleep with socks on. The next morning, rinse the product off with warm water and exfoliate with a pumice stone.
Kitchen burns always hurt, but a little bit of Vicks can soothe the pain and help it heal faster.
Use a bit of VapoRub on splinters and small paper cuts. The increased blood flow to the area will speed healing and prevent infection from setting in.
