These microscopic bugs live in our beds and feed themselves on our dead skin cells and sweat. Leaving the bed unmade after getting up leaves them exposed to fresh air and sunlight which will eventually kill them.
Everyone sweats during sleeping – according to experts, the average person sweats up to a liter of fluids overnight. This creates ideal conditions for the dust mites to live and multiply. Every bed has approximately 1.5 million of dust mites living and excreting in it, which can cause allergies, asthma and respiratory problems.
Carolyn Forte, director of the Prima Institute laboratory, suggests leaving your bed unmade until after you get back from work. This will be enough time to kill the dust mites and sleep in a healthier environment. You should also wash and change your sheets every 2 weeks.
